Drain Clearing –
we are the blocked drain specialists!
Dr.DRiP
works with the latest technology and equipment to accurately pinpoint
and effectively assist with clearing sewer and/or stormwater blockages
as well as blocked
toilets. The use of such technology stops, or at the very least
minimises, the unnecessary expense of digging to find and remove
blockages.
The technology
we use -
ELECTRIC EEL
A coiled
metal cable is fed into the sewer and/or stormwater line. This cable
rotates to cut root growth, and release sludge and debris leaving
the line clear. This is not a guaranteed method of completely clearing
your line, however, it will release blockages.
HIGH PRESSURE WATER JET CLEANER
A tremendous
pressure of water is sent up the sewer and/or stormwater line, using
varied pressure cutting heads, which pulverises root growth, breaks
up sludge and debris, penetrates grease, and flushes out the line
leaving it completely clear. A guaranteed method to completely clear
your line.
Note: Neither
the electric eel or the high pressure water jet cleaner can guarantee
to remove root growth permanently due to possible breakages in your
pipes. A CCTV camera (drain camera) can be used to determine the
exact reason for your blockage, at which point we can determine
a cost effective solution.
CCTV CAMERA
Why use
a CCTV camera (drain camera)?
A drain
camera takes the guess work out of sewer and/or stormwater repairs.
Upon clearing a stubborn line with a high pressure water jet cleaner,
a drain camera can be used to locate the source of the problem.
This ensures we are given exact information to determine a cost
effective solution.
With this
drain camera image we can determine whether drain maintenance is
the appropriate follow up or possibly excavation is required.
PIPE LOCATOR
Should
excavation be the solution, the pipe locator or our Navitrack used
in conjunction with the drain camera, is used to pin-point the exact
location of the blockage. Pin-pointing problems can save time and
money by preventing excavation in the wrong location.
It is highly
recommended to have your lines cleared every 6 - 12 months (depending
on your location and tree growth surrounding your home) to keep
the root growth and build up of sludge to a minimum.

Let’s
look at what were up against in a blocked toilet. It definitely
involves a lot of inconvenience, especially when the family’s
around at Christmas time!
As
a home-owner, you must ensure that the drains are kept clear at
all times. But let’s face it, you do come across a blocked
drain occasionally with the way they design the pans these days.
Previously, we had a very basic S-trap pan and a high level cistern.
So when you actually flushed the cistern, the great force of the
9 litre flush ensured that there was a lot of water consistently
flowing into the toilet pan.
These
days we’re trying to conserve water all around Australia.
The pans are now designed to use much less water. We now have a
choice between a half and a full flush, 3 and 6 litres, depending
on the design of the pan. A 4 inch pipe is attached to the toilet
pan, but since some designs have narrow necks, the functionality
is hampered. The best way, most of the time, is to call the plumber
in – Dr.DRiP Plumbing. I’ve seen a few people do it
themselves - put their hand in and try and extract whatever’s
around the bend.
We
recommend a plunger; that’s certainly the sensible way to
go about it. Most of the time the plunger works, but if you don’t
have one, try a hair mop. This is the cheaper way out, instead of
calling the plumber to fix the problem. If you plan on fixing the
blockage yourself, make sure there’s enough water in the toilet
bowl. Get the mop or the plunger in and give it a hard thrust. If
you can clear it - that’s fantastic. But it means that there
was a reason for the blockage.
If
the reason is excess paper or something forced down the line, the
problem is bound to persist. Sometimes the fresheners put in the
toilet bowl slip and block the bends. It is not easy to get those
fresheners out. You can use the old hand trick with the big rubber
glove or a garbage bag. You may also need to get underneath the
building to clear the lines. However, your best bet is the plumber.
Majority of sewer lines get blocked by tree roots or a breakage
in the line.
You
need to get the professionals to help you with such major issues.
It is natural that most people don’t like dealing with sewer
problems and consider it a dirty job. But obviously someone has
to do it! And your solution is Dr DRiP Plumbing, your plumbing company
of choice. We use a high pressure drain cleaner. We also use a sewer
camera to identify where the problem is. The camera helps to identify
the problem so that we can rectify it immediately. The intention
is to fix the issue once and for all to prevent recurrence of the
problem.
Not
wanting to spend money is understandable, but it is better to do
so at one time than have the same problem drain you of finances
again and again. We recommend that if you do have a problem get
it fixed right the first time. You need to educate family members
on the problems that sanitary napkins and fresheners can cause if
flushed down the lines. They get caught on the edges of the pipes
and block the system. If you use Draino, don’t forget to tell
the plumber about it.
Dr DRiP

is to ensure the safety and good health of the population of Sydney,
